The latest community-engagement effort at the University of Indianapolis is not run of the mill. On the contrary, it’s run of the mile.
Athletics and campus staff staged “Indy’s Fastest Mile” during halftime of this past Saturday’s home football game against Wayne State (Michigan) to incorporate fitness, fans and fun.
Runners of all shapes, sizes and speeds started from inside the Greyhounds’ Key Stadium and wound around the Indianapolis campus on a one-mile course that brought them back to the stadium, where runners finished with a flourish through the team’s inflatable football helmet and down the track before the stadium’s main grandstand.

Hey Kids, how would you like to be a Junior Captain for the UIndy Football Team? If you are between the ages of 4 and 13 years old, you can sign up to win the Junior Captain for a day contest! Winners receive an autographed UIndy Football game day jersey, and a chance to walk with the Football Captains for the coin toss.

The 2 nd annual Greyhound Alumni Football Challenge proved to be a huge success this year hosting over 40 former student-athletes in a single elimination tournament. The event took place April 17 th-18 th and began with a live draft at local establishment, McQ’s Pub & Eatery. Alumni were split into four teams and had the opportunity to challenge one another the following evening “under the lights” at Key Stadium. The Crimson Team, who was led by former Greyhound quarterback, Mitch Brown, captured the title scoring a game winning touchdown with just 20 seconds left. The final score of the championship game was 26-21 Crimson.

The Greyhound Club had a successful turnout for the 2009 "Playing with the Pros" this past February. Alumni and friends of the University of Indianapolis had the chance to participate in a golf outing with celebrities at the course where Caddyshack was filmed in Fort Lauderdale, FL. The three day event consisted of playing a few rounds at the beautiful Grand Oaks Golf Course in South Florida with various celebrities such as Hall of Fame Jockey, Jerry Bailey.

The Department of Athletics and the Greyhound Club are pleased to announce the 2009 Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Class. This year’s Hall of Fame ceremony and events will take place on Saturday, February 28, 2009. The 2009 Class includes four individuals and one team set for induction. Mark Bless (football, track), Walter Brenneman (basketball, track), Dennis McNulty (cross country, track), Andy Richardson (track, football) and the 1972-73 baseball team will all be introduced at halftime of the men's basketball game on Feb. 28 and enshrined following the game at the annual awards banquet.

This amount sets a record for the fourth year in a row. “We are fortunate to have such committed members that continue to contribute to the Greyhound Club each year,” said Matt Donovan, Associate Athletic Director for Development. “With their continuous support, we are able to accomplish our goals and maintain our success as a part of UIndy Athletics.”
