Sondgeroth adds his name to UIndy's All-American list

INDIANAPOLIS- University of Indianapolis senior Ben Sondgeroth was one of a select few to garner All-American status from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) this year.  The Greyhound infielder was named to the Rawlings/ABCA 2009 NCAA Division II All-American Third Team after leading UIndy to a 43-21 record and an NCAA appearance.

INDIANAPOLIS- Senior Ben Sondgeroth and junior Chase Kittinger received their second all-region first-team nod of the season Tuesday.  After both were named to the All-Midwest Region First Team by Daktronics, the pair garnered the same honor from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA). In addition, Greyhound pitchers Cory Rupert and Cory White were named to the All-Midwest Region Second Team by the ABCA, while senior Justin Russell made the Midwest Gold Glove Team.

Two one-run losses end UIndy’s season

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio- The University of Indianapolis baseball team saw its 2009 season come to a close Sunday with a pair of losses in the finals of the NCAA DII Midwest Regional.  Grand Valley State topped UIndy 5-4 and 4-3 to advance to the Division II College World Series, as the Greyhounds finished the season 43-21.

Memorial Stadium.  Behind a combined three-hitter from Werner and starter Vince Saisi, UIndy advances to the finals of the NCAA D-II Midwest Regional Sunday looking for its first regional title since 2000.

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio- Seven solid innings from Cory White and a three-run homerun from Ben Sondgeroth helped the University of Indianapolis baseball team to a 7-3 win versus Southern Indiana at the NCAA Midwest Regional at V.A. Memorial Stadium Friday night.  White (pictured) got the win to up his record to 10-2 on the season, while UIndy moves to 2-0 in the six-team double-elimination tournament.

Sondgeroth's blast wins it in regional opener
CHILLICOTHE, Ohio- University of Indianapolis senior Ben Sondgeroth delivered a dramatic three-run homerun in UIndy’s 5-4 win against second-seeded Grand Valley State in the opening game of the NCAA D-II Midwest Regional at V.A. Memorial Stadium Thursday afternoon.  After trailing for eight innings, Sondgeroth’s blast with two down in the top of the ninth proved to be the game winner for the Greyhounds.

Hounds secure NCAA berth
INDIANAPOLIS- In an announcement made by the NCAA Division II Baseball Committee Sunday night, the University of Indianapolis baseball team will be one of 48 teams to participate in the upcoming 2009 NCAA Division II Baseball Championship.  The Greyhounds earned the five seed in the six-team Midwest Regional tournament, held in Chillicothe, Ohio May 14-18, and will face second-seeded Grand Valley State at noon Thursday.

Ninth-inning rally ends UIndy tourney run
SAUGET, Ill.- Two ninth-inning runs ended the University of Indianapolis baseball team’s conference title hopes Sunday, as Northern Kentucky topped UIndy 5-3 in the finals of the 2009 Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament at GCS Ballpark.  The GLVC East rivals heading into the ninth deadlocked at 3-3, but a pair of runs off a taxed UIndy staff proved to be too for the Hounds.

Conference tourney final awaits Hounds
SAUGET, Ill.- With a 13-4 win against Southern Indiana Saturday night at GCS Balpark, the University of Indianapolis baseball team earns the chance to play for the 2009 Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship.  The Greyhounds are one of two remaining teams in the double-elimination GLVC Tournament and will need to win two versus Northern Kentucky tomorrow to earn the crown.  Junior Vince Saisi (pictured) picked up the win by striking out four in six innings of work in just his second start as a Greyhound.
