INDIANAPOLIS- The University of Indianapolis men’s and women’s basketball teams officially announced their 2010-11 schedules Monday. Both squads begin their seasons with exhibition contests against in-state Division I opponents, as the men face Purdue Nov. 2 and the women travel to IU Nov. 6.

INDIANAPOLIS- In an announcement made by the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tuesday, UIndy student-athletes Jessica Canary (women’s basketball), Seth Fair (men’s golf) and Lyndsay McBride (women’s golf) were each named their respective sport’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Coupled with volleyball player Kyleigh Turner, UIndy boasts four scholar-athletes among the GLVC’s 15 2009-10 award winners, most in the league.

INDIANAPOLIS- NCAA Division-I transfer and Seymour, Ind. native Kristin Turner is set to join the University of Indianapolis women’s basketball team this fall. The 5-7 guard, who comes to Indianapolis after logging a year at Oakland University, will enter her sophomore season at UIndy in 2010-11 with three years of eligibility remaining.

INDIANAPOLIS- UIndy women’s basketball recruit Katy McIntosh was recently named to the 2010 Indiana Girls Basketball All-Star Team. McIntosh, who is the only non-Division-I signee on the 14-player squad, will suit up for the Greyhounds this fall, becoming the first Indiana All-Star to play for the UIndy women since 2003-honoree Amanda Norris.

ATLANTA- UIndy student-athletes Jessica Canary and Samantha Meissel received All-America Honorable Mention from the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Monday night. Canary and Meissel were two of just 30 players to receive the honor. The WBCA, in cooperation with State Farm, also announced the 10-player NCAA Division II State Farm Coaches’ All-America Team, headlined by WBCA D-II Player of the Year Johannah Leedham of Franklin Pierce University.

HOUGHTON, Mich.- After trailing a majority of the game, the fifth-ranked University of Indianapolis women’s basketball team had a final shot to win but fell short as Northern Michigan escaped with a 52-51 win in the opening round of the NCAA Midwest Regional Friday. UIndy had two looks in the final seconds but couldn’t connect, allowing the Wildcats to advance to the regional semifinal.
