NEW YORK- The University of Indianapolis golf teams received national recognition Wednesday, as both were featured in their respective national preseason polls. CORAL SPRINGS, Fla.- The UIndy women’s golf team capped a great season on the course by being recognized for its effort in the classroom. With a combined 3.752 grade point average, the squad became the recipient of the 2009-2010 National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) All-Scholar Team GPA Award Monday by compiling the highest team GPA across all NCAA divisions.

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla.- A Division II-high-tying five Greyhounds earned All-American Scholar Team honors from the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) Monday. Megan Kiley, Lyndsay McBride, Ashley Seaton, Allison Tyler and Lauren Vogt all collected the academic distinction, making UIndy one of just three schools with a division-best five honorees.

INDIANAPOLIS- The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) has announced the 2009-10 recipients of the Team Academic Award, with seven UIndy teams making the list. The Greyhound women’s cross country team, women’s golf, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, men’s tennis, women’s tennis and volleyball all maintained at least a 3.30 grade point average for the previous academic year.

COLUMBUS, Ind.- Recent UIndy graduate Lyndsay McBride was crowned the Indiana Women’s Golf Association Match Play champion Wednesday at Heartland Crossing Golf Links in Columbus, Ind. McBride was one of two former Greyhounds to qualify for match play, as Kristi Piepenbrink Trotter (’09) joined McBride in the round of 16 by excelling in 18 holes of stroke play.

Coupled with volleyball player Kyleigh Turner, UIndy boasts four scholar-athletes among the GLVC’s 15 2009-10 award winners, most in the league.
